RADIKINAS
a performance with music, theatre and images about the hidden life under the earth. Ages 2+
Something is growing!
Small roots under the earth become sprouts and gradually something much bigger! Radikinas’ uses theatre and pictures to tell a story about growth and life underground, with original compositions and world music repertoire from South America, Europe and Africa, arranged for three-part vocals, flute, violin, bass and percussion.
‘Radikinas’ (Roots) is an interdisciplinary performance with music, theatre and images about the hidden life under the earth. Inspired by the famous book ‘Something of the Root Children’ by Sibylle von Olfers and the work of Sardinian artist Maria Lai, we explore the deep and hidden (‘dark’) side of nature, the womb of Mother Earth, where life begins. Life that grows from small seeds in a network of roots. The roots that sustain and nourish it, that welcome it and bring it to light. A living tissue, sometimes solid, sometimes fragile, that allows new things to grow. These small shoots are the beginning of something much bigger. In a poetic and imaginative way, we experience the connection between humans and nature and raise our awareness of sustainability and our responsibility as part of a global community.
